Traffic Rules in China

Green light= Go
Yellow light = Go Faster
Red light = Stop (see below for more details)

So far everything seems ok... Then you get the

Red (right turn) = Go ( The traffic will slow down for you)
Red (left turn) = Go (when the car in front of you goes or you can squeeze in between cars they will slow down)
Red (no cars) = Go

So as far as I can tell Red equals Go but its up to your judgment on whether its safe or not.
Oh... one more rule. Yellow line = Optional (oncoming traffic will slow down)

But there is a good side... On todays ride no one honked at me to get off the road.. Everyone respected that I was on the road and gave me plenty of room.

Bike lane traffic in the AM... not bad huh.

Mmmm... 2-stroke engine exhaust.

That's gotta be great for the non-powered riders.

Yeah.. im passing mopeds, electric bicycles (they cruise at 15mph), three wheel bicycles... you name it if it get them faster than walking its being used. But sucking the two stroke exhaust does suck!!!

That traffic seems downright orderly compared with Phnom Penh. Every intersection felt like 2 armies of mopeds and Toyotas rushing together to fight in the middle of the intersection.

Additionally,

1. Turn left/right anytime without turning on the leds, incoming traffic have to "predict" your direction.

2. Park anywhere on the street, either left or right, "let's kiss".

3. Who cares if the street is big enough, just park if there is no "no parking".

4. Stop anywhere to let your passenger down, that will save time and safer than driving the car to the rear of the road.

5. Drive your car over speed on the right side, never mind if that's the truck or bus lane.

6. If there is no speed camera, that big number in red circle means minimum km/h allowed.

7. etc.
